Dear Resident Over recent weeks you may have noticed an increased police presence around Canterbury City Centre, particularly in areas where rough sleeping and vulnerability have been reported. I want to reassure you that your local policing team is working closely with partner agencies to ensure that anyone sleeping rough or appearing vulnerable receives the right help and support. We regularly carry out welfare checks on individuals in the city centre and link them with support services such as outreach teams, healthcare providers, and housing specialists. Our aim is to make sure people are safe and have access to the assistance available to them. Where behaviour connected to vulnerability begins to impact the wider community, we continue to work carefully and proportionately to balance support with appropriate action. This includes engaging early, signposting services, and working alongside Canterbury City Council and local charities to prevent situations from escalating. Thank you to those who continue to report concerns—your information helps us identify individuals who may need urgent support. If you see someone who appears vulnerable, please report it to us via 101 or through the Kent Police website. If someone is in immediate danger, always call 999. We remain committed to keeping Canterbury safe, supportive, and welcoming for everyone. | ||
